St.
Johns Lutheran Church
Conover,
North Carolina
In
February 2001 St. Johns experienced a devastating fire which completely
destroyed the sanctuary and one-half of the educational wing.
This was the second fire in fifty-one years. After seeing the advantages
of a design/build concept the church decided to rebuild this 35,000
square foot projecct. This project had several obstacles to design
around which included part of the existing educational wing and
the large center tower. The church wanted to save this tower because
of its historical value after surviving two fires.
